Window Project
DEAR FRIENDS OF STANTON SWEDISH HERITAGE
CENTER, ALUMNI, AND STANTON RESIDENTS,
Since 1971, the Stanton Historical Society has served as the guardian of
Stanton’s unique history. Housed in our beloved 1885 schoolhouse, the oldest
public building in Montgomery County, the Center brings our ancestors’ stories
to life. Today, we are writing to ask for your help in preserving this community
treasure for future generations.
Time and the Iowa elements have taken a toll on our historic building. We have
launched a major fundraising initiative to replace all of the aging windows in
2026. Many of these windows are in critical need of repair, and their deteriorating
condition has become a point of concern.
By supporting the window project, you are helping us achieve three vital goals:
Preservation: Installing new Andersen 100 Series windows will restore the
windows to the original size and maintain the historic beauty of the building.
Sustainability: New, energy-efficient windows will significantly reduce our utility
expenses, allowing more of our budget to go toward our historical mission.
Community Pride: New windows will match the beautiful storefront
improvements recently completed downtown, ensuring the Swedish Heritage &
Cultural Center continues to be a source of pride for Stanton.
Our total goal for this phase of the project is estimated at $150,000. Every
donation, regardless of size, brings us one step closer to making these
necessary improvements. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your contribution to the
Stanton Historical Society is tax-deductible.
We would be honored to recognize our donors at upcoming community events
such as Midsommars Dag and through a dedicated donor display inside the
building.
Please visit www.swedishheritageandculturalcenter.org to donate online, or mail
your contribution to the address below. Together, we can ensure the lights stay
on and the windows stay bright at the Swedish Heritage & Cultural Center.
With gratitude,
Stanton Historical Society Board

PRESERVATION

The current windows
in our building were
installed in the 1980s
and are in poor
condition. Our goal is
to replace them with
a more historically
accurate design.
